I am starting my first blog.
A few days ago I came up with an idea to collect family recipes on the property.
Glen's Picture of his $12.00 Tamale |
Last week I spent the day with Wyona cooking
Zucchini Cake and today I am spending time with Arta learning all there is to know about bread.
Arta mentioned the family blog site and we thought it would be a good idea to share family recipes and ideas about food here.
My Dad wanted to re-create the Tamale you see here and was on a mission for approximately 1 year. He finally found the ingredients in Marda Loop in Calgary. He lives in Sicamous B.C. This does not count as getting your food within 100 miles of where you live.
He taught the rest of us to make these tamales. Some in the family do live withinin 100 miles of Marda Loop so we are counting his tamales as being politically correct.

Can hardly wait until I get the lesson on how to make $12.00 tamales.
ReplyDeleteI love Mexican food. I've got a chicken enchilada recipe that Imake, and green chiles in the cupboard just waiting for an opportunity to be used.
ReplyDeleteI added your blog to Arta's blogroll, by the way.
ReplyDeleteWhere is this place in Marda Loop? I want to sample it before I try and make it. :)
ReplyDeleteHello Lurene
ReplyDeleteThe place in Marda Loop is called Tres Maria's Market. I can guarantee you will want more Tamales once you have tried one.
